Your desired tan is achieved in minutes, and will last up to two weeks. Spray Tanning is the perfect alternative to harsh tanning beds, for special occasions, vacations, or just a pick me up!!
Guidelines for an Airbrush Spray Tan at Marlene Weber Day Spa
When should I get a spray tan?
If you would like to be tan for a special event, we recommend coming in to Marlene Weber for your spray tan the day before, or as close to the event as possible (allowing for at least 8 hours before your shower.)
How often can I get a spray tan?
You can get a spray tan just one time for a special event or you can come anywhere from once a week to once a month to maintain a year-round, healthy-looking tan.
Do I need to scrub or exfoliate before I get a spray tan?
For best results, exfoliating your skin with a loofah or a scrub is recommended before coming to the salon, especially if you have old self tanner on your skin. If you don’t have the time to exfoliate before your appointment (ex: if you are coming directly from work) the technician will be happy to do the exfoliating process for you for an additional charge.
How should I prepare for my spray tan?
Do any waxing, shaving, manicure or pedicures before you come for your spray tan. If possible, come with clean skin; meaning no body lotions, moisturizers, make-up or deodorant (although you may take this off once you reach the salon, if you prefer.) It is possible to spray tan over your make-up if you are going somewhere right after your appointment.
What should I wear for my spray tanning session?
It depends on your preference of tan line. If you do not want tan lines, you should skip undergarments. If tan lines are acceptable to you, then you can wear your own undergarments or swim wear (preferably in a dark color.) Although the tinted self tanner washes out of most fabrics, it can stain nylon and leather. The clothes that you go home in should be very loose and dark.
What can I expect when I visit Marlene Weber Day Spa for my airbrush tanning treatment?
First, we will discuss your preferred shade of skin color and what type of tan you are looking for. Once you are satisfied with the shade your technician has recommended for you, you will get undressed in a private room at our salon. You may choose to wear your own underwear, a pair of our discreet paper panties, or nothing at all (whichever you feel most comfortable with.) All of your belongings will be locked up in a safe & protective compartment.
If you have on nail polish or acrylic nails, the technician will cover your nails with a thin coat of Vaseline to prevent any discoloration. Also, a disposable shower cap will be provided to you to protect your hair as well.
The actual spray tan process takes only a few minutes. The technician will show you all the different positions to stand in as your body is coated in the bronze solution. The spray tan feels like a cool mist and has no odor to it. As the spray is applied, you will notice a color appear on the skin. This is a “color guide” and allows the technician to see where the spray tan is going.
After being sprayed, you will stand in front of a fan in the room for a few minutes. You may feel a bit sticky since the self-tanner is an aloe vera gel base. This moisturizing feeling should go away in an hour or so. The aloe vera base prevents the tan from being removed when you put your clothes back on. If you go home and notice a little smudge or line from where your clothes where, don’t worry, when you shower the water will even out your tan. After about 5 minutes of drying off in front of the fan, you may put your clothes back on and enjoy the rest of your day.
How long should I wait to shower after my spray tan?
The recommended time to wait is anywhere from 4 to 12 hours. If this is your first spray tan it is best to wait at least 8 hours. During the shower, you may notice a bit of color rinsing off your skin, do not worry. This is just the color guide rinsing off and this is meant to happen. When you step out of the shower, if any areas look uneven, just blend it with your fingers. The tan is blendable while when. To dry, pat yourself with a soft towel. Do not rub, because that will remove the tan.
How long will my spray tan last?
Your fabulous healthy tan will last anywhere from 4-10 days depending on:

My spray tan is starting to fade, how do I get it off?
Although most people believe that you can just scrub off their spray tan, you can’t! The spray tan is attached to the upper layers of your skin and gently fades as your skin exfoliates. If you go into the shower with a scrub or loofah, you will find it very difficult removing the tan. The best thing to do is soak for a long time in a tub, sauna or Jacuzzi to soften your skin. Then taking a nice exfoliating scrub or loofah (or even both for best results) gently scrub in circular motions over your entire body.
Is spray tanning safe?
The tanning solution that Marlene Weber Day Spa carries had the active ingredient DHA (dihydroxyacetone) which has been approved for cosmetic use by the FDA. It is considered non-toxic and non-carcinogenic. DHA does not use the skin’s melanocytes to make the skin tan, so it is non-invasive. Airbrush tanning has been recommended by the Skin Cancer Organization, Academy of Dermatologists and the American Medical Society.
